We've got Character!
The title of our Design BFA Exhibition, Character, was chosen to reflect the individuality and creative identity of each graduating senior. The name encapsulates both the personality of the students and their unique design sensibilities– the class of 2024 has Character!
Each designer developed a senior thesis project reflecting their personal interests and aesthetics, ranging from brands and campaigns to original products. Character’s identity needed to capture these varying approaches to creative problem-solving.
Celebrating Creative Differences
The show’s identity followed this theme, as we developed many variable, eclectic wordmarks. Each letter of the title is uniquely crafted to reflect the different types of characters in the graduating class.
Numerous iterations of each letter in the title were sketched until a balanced combination of different typographic styles, weights, and spacing was achieved.
To build upon the established identity, Character’s branding incorporated doodle illustrations, marker and pencil textures, and bold primary colors. These secondary elements evoked a sketchbook aesthetic, a nod to where every great design begins.
Final Wordmark

Character in Action
Print and social media advertisements drew community interest and attendance for the opening reception. The branding extended into the gallery space itself, transforming the event into an immersive experience that brought the idea of Character to life.
